FUFA Never Informed Us About Change Of Venue For Kitara Game – Kigezi

Big League side Kigezi Home Boyz have come out and blamed the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) for not informing them about a change of venue for the Uganda Cup game away to Kitara FC on Tuesday, April 06.

The two clubs were slated to face off in the first leg of their round of 32 tie but the game never went-on after Kigezi turned up at a different venue.

Through the fixtures released by FUFA’s competitions department, the game was initially supposed to be played at the Kavumba Recreation Grounds.

However, at the eleventh hour, it is understood that the venue was changed to Masindi Municipal Stadium, something that Kigezi claim to have had no knowledge about.

“The fixtures which were released early clearly suggested that the game was at Kavumba and we did not receive any communication that the venue had been changed. Narrated Kigezi CEO Andrew Odong in a phone interview with this website.

“I was personally at FUFA house on Tuesday morning and was told the venue was still Kavumba so i took my players there only to learn later that the game had been taken to Masindi. I do not know how the referees got the communication that the game was in Masindi and we didn’t.

“We as Kigezi did nothing wrong and we will wait for the verdict to know what FUFA has decided.”

SportsNation made fruitless attempts to contact FUFA in regards to the matter as Competitions Director Aisha Nalule did not pick her phone on several tries after initially assuring that she was busy and would get back to us later.

The two team are slated to meet again in the second leg at Kabale Municipal Ground on Saturday afternoon.
