Former Cranes Midfielder Spends Night In Jail

Former Uganda Cranes midfielder Sulaiman Mutyaba has spent the night at Old Kampala Police Station.

Mutyaba who featured for the likes of Vipers SC, Express FC, KCCA FC and Congolese giants TP Mazambe in his playing days, was arrested on Friday during a peaceful demonstration at the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) headquarters in Mengo.

The SportsNation has learnt that Police denied him a Bond on grounds that he had to present a lawyer before he is allowed to leave.

It is reported that he is being charged with staging an unlawful demonstration.

Before his arrest, Mutyaba and a group of youths had camped outside the Federation’s headquarters asking them (FUFA) to account for the money that comes in and also pay arrears that are owed to national team players.

Mutyaba also accuses the FUFA President, Moses Magogo and his administration for failing to account for the salaries of Cranes players, that come in from the government on a monthly basis.

Recently, Magogo came out to claim that some players have no right to demand for money after “playing sh**y football” at the just concluded CHAN championships in Cameroon.

Mutyaba has also been undergoing a fierce social media and cyber battle with Cranes team manager Patrick Ntege similar matters.
