Wakiso Giants 3-1 Water FC (Agg: 5-2)
Uganda Premier League side Wakiso Giants beat Water FC 3-1 on Saturday in the Uganda cup round of 32 return leg to reach the last 16.
A goal each from Tom Masiko, Ibrahim Kasule and Ivan Bogere ensured victory for Douglas Bamweyana’s side who progressed 5-2 on aggregate having won the first leg 2-1 away from home.
William Kiibi scored a late consolation for the visitors which was not enough as they bowed out of the competition.
The In-form Masiko handed hosts the lead inside the first quarter of game striking from just outside the box to beat goalkeeper Aggrrey Kirigola.
Viane Ssekajugo would have doubled Wakiso’s lead moments later but was denied by the woodwork.
With just 5minutes to the halftime whistle Kasuule scored from inside the box to double the host’s lead.
William Kiibi saw an efforts go out wide as Water pushed for a consolation early in the second half.
Four minutes past the hour mark, Bogere tapped in from a well delivered Yasin Mugume cross to put the game and tie beyond Water.
Familiar to scoring against the Sharks, Kiibi who also netted in the first leg, poked home from close range to had the visitors a deserved consolation.
The result means Wakiso Giants are into the last 16 of the competition for the second time in their three-year history.
