Uganda Cup: Kitata Strike Enough As UPDF Beat Arua Hill To Storm Last 16

Alex Kitata’s lone strike was enough for UPDF to progress to the round of 16 as they overcame Arua Hill SC at Bombo Barracks Military Stadium 1-0 to win the tie on away goals.

With Arua Hill winning 3-2 in the first leg, the contest tie ended 3-3 on aggregate.

Arua Hill SC had three penalty appeals tuned down by the referee as the Kongolo dominated the game.

As early as 4th Minutes, UPDF broke the deadlock through Alex Kitata’s shot from just outside the box which beat goalkeeper Richard Anyama at the near post.

Alex Kitata had a chance to double the lead moments later but his header went wide of the target.

Ceaser Ochuti had two good chances to level matter but shot over from a volley before miss-controlling a pass whole through on goal.

The big league side continued pressing for the equaliser this time Biden misjudged Rashid Agau’s low pass after facing one on one with the Goalkeeper.

At the stroke of half time Kitata missed a sitter after a well worked cross from Brian Kalumba.

The visitors pushed for what would be the winner in the tie but both Leku and Ochuti could not convert as the Army side held on to reach the last 16.

What next for both sides

UPDF will come back in action away to Police FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium in the Uganda Premier League on Wednesday 14th April.

Arua Hill SC travels away to Mbale Heroes in the FUFA Big League at the Mbale Municipal Stadium on Thursday 15th April.
