SC Villa will go all out to make amends when they take on Ndejje University FC at the Arena of Visions in the return leg of the round of 32 of Stanbic Uganda Cup.
The Jogoos lost the first leg 1-0 at Bombo Barracks ground on Easter Monday thanks to Brian Ssali’s goal in first half.
The Jogoos will need a win of two-goal margin to reach the round of 16 or 1-0 to force shootouts.
“We are very prepared for the second leg against Ndejje. The technical team has intensified the training sessions in a bid to overturn our first leg loss. We have worked on different areas of our play that is; shooting, crossing, positioning and more. The task ahead of us of eliminating Ndejje needs to create multiple chances throughout the whole 90 minutes,” Villa midfielder Emmanuel Wasswa told club media.
“Going to secure an away victory with a goal cushion of two or more from Ndejje is an opportunity for us to stay in the Cup this season. We are fortunate that this season’s Uganda Cup format provides a two-legged challenge. This a golden opportunity for us to make amends for the first leg slip.
“With all the training we have carried out this week and without any fresh injuries to destabilize the team, I am very confident we will come out on top of this fixture.”
Villa recently confirmed the signing of defender cum midfielder Geoffrey Wasswa who ended his spell at Vipers.
Striker Ronald Olaki and winger Saddam Maseruka are available for selection while Benson Muhindo is still sidelined.
They have been eliminated by minnows at the round of 32 – Kiboga Young (2018) and Nkambi Coffee (2019).
They are nine time winners but last won the Championship in 2014/15 season when they beat KCCA FC at Namboole.
Ndejje University on the other hand, were eliminated by Faith, Hope and Love (FHL) FC last season in shootouts.
In 2019, they were ousted by Kansai Plascon.
The Big League side will be without Nicholas Luzige who was sent off in the first leg at Bombo.
They have drawn all their three games in FUFA Big League this season – Nyamityobora, Tiles and Terrazo, and Kigezi FC.
