Kakooza Stars As Police Takes Care Of UPDF

Uganda Police Football Club beat UPDF FC 3-0 in a Uganda Premier League game played at the Omondi stadium on Wednesday.

A brace by Derrick Kakooza and another from Frank Tumwesigye ensured victory for the Abdallah Mubiru side.

UPDF remained winless in their last three league games played.

Hosts Police kicked off the game with a high tempo only to be denied on two occasions from goalkeeper Eric Kibowa.

Forward Duncan Sseninde had his effort go out wide off a Kibowa lose ball inside 10 minutes as Police FC pushed for a quick goal.

Midfielder Tumwesigye broke the deadlock after 21minutes, shooting from just outside the box off a blind pass from Dennis Ssekitoleko.

Forward Brian Kayanja had his powerful shot head inches wide as UPDF pushed for an equalizer.

Tumwesigye missed out on doubling Police’s lead, shooting over from inside the box.

With 8 minutes to the halftime whistle, AFCON U20 top scorer, Kakooza had his first goal since returning from the tournament with a solo run, finished with a fine chip past Kibowa to double lead for the home team.

A minute off the hour mark, Kakooza headed in freely off a cross from Muwadda Mawejje.

Sam Kintu had his header cleared off the line by Henry Katongole before Derrick Ochan denied James Besiga as visitors pushed for a consolation.

In the end, Police held on to a convincing victory that sees then climb into 4th with 31 points.

UPDF stay 7th on the log with 25 points from 17 league games played.

In their next fixtures, Police play away to Busoga United on match day 18 while UPDF host Kyetume FC.
