Bright Stars FC 3-2 Wakiso Giants FC
Kavumba Recreation Grounds, Wakiso
Substitute Ibrahim Kasinde scored a 99th minute penalty as Bright Stars FC defeated Wakiso Giants FC 3-2 at Kavumba on Wednesday.
Kasinde who came on for Joseph Janjali with three minutes of the 90 to play, converted from the spot after Hassan Wasswa brought down Emmanuel Loki in the area, deep into the eight minutes added on.
The penalty was one of three that were awarded by referee Shamirah Nabadda on an eventful afternoon.
Earlier, Ivan Bogere had handed Wakiso the lead inside three minutes as he pounced on a goalkeeping hauler by Benson Wangima.
Bright Stars levelled matters on 15 minutes through Samuel Ssekamate whose fierce drive from a free kick from just outside the area, found the back of the net.
On 27 minutes, Wangima who was injured in the build up to Bogere’s goal, was taken off and replaced by Simon Tamale.
Six minutes later, Joseph Janjali collected from Warren Buule, on the counter before slotting past Samson Kirya to hand the hosts their first lead of the game.
Mid-way the second half, Lubwama was introduced in place of Tom Masiko as the Giants went in search of an equaliser. Masiko had seen a penalty saved by Tamale four minutes into the second half.
The move paid off on 75 minutes as Lubwama dispatched a penalty after Nabadda signalled for a hand ball in the area.
Chasing for a winner, the hosts sent on Emmanuel Loki and Ibrahim Kasinde in quick succession and what a move that would prove to be.
In the last minute of the eight added on, Loki broke free and he was brought down by Hassan Wasswa before Kasinde dispatched it for the winning goal.
The results sees Bright Stars climb into 9th spot with 23 points while Wakiso Giants drops to 13th on 16 points from 17 games.
