*SC Villa 0-0 Express
*Bright Stars 3-2 Wakiso Giants
*Police FC 3-0 UPDF FC
SC Villa held rivals Express FC to a goalless draw in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League game at Bombo Military Barracks.
Title chasers Express had the best chances on the day but couldn’t break down the Jogoos in the derby that failed to produce a spark.
Villa will have their goalkeeper Saidi Keni to thank after he was forced into a reflex save to deny Charles Musiige’s header off Martin Kizza’s freekick.
Keni’s counterpart at the other end, Mathias Muwanga was rarely troubled but was outstanding and alert to easily collect a long shot from Muhammed Ssenoga.
Villa will be happy to walk away with a point and a clean sheet and finish the game with all eleven players after Derrick Ndahiro was just cautioned for a dangerous kick on Mayanja.
Express remain in third with 36 points while SC Villa are sixth with 29 points.
Express FC Title Chase Suffers Minor Set Back
Express FC missed a chance to keep pace with league leaders Vipers and URA FC.
Its two points lost for the Red Eagles who were the better side on the day as the side slip to three points adrift of the summit.
However, coach Wasswa Bbosa will look at the positives from the game, for a side that is yet to beat Villa on the road since 2014.
Besides Musiige’s header that was kept out by Keni, Eric Kambale earlier skewed Lwesibwa corner wide while Mahad Yaya Kakooza shot over the bar from a loose ball after Keni punched out of danger.
Their remaining tough fixtures include a trip to face Vipers on April 23 and KCCA FC at Lugogo in the league’s last fixture on June 30.
Sloppy Villa Bank Point
SC Villa were second best on the day as they lacked creativity and failed to cause Express any danger.
Substitute Abdallah Salim almost broke the deadlock with a long range drive but it went over the bar.
There was nothing to report home from Edward kaziba’s charges but the gaffer will be contented having kept their rivals at bay.
Their three-league-game winning run has been halted but they will be no time to rest as they visit KCCA at Lugogo next before hosting title contenders URA FC.
What Next: SC Villa visit KCCA FC on Sunday at Omondi Stadium in Lugogo while Express host Mbarara City at Betway Muteesa II Stadium on Saturday.
