Uganda police FC head coach Abdallah Mubiru was left delighted by his players after a 3-0 win over UPDF FC in the Uganda Premier League on Wednesday.
Derrick Kakooza scored a brace while Frank Tumwesigye scored the other as Police took all three points and climbed into 4th position on the standings.
“It was some good performance and the score line is also encouraging. Abdallah Mubiru told the press in his post match conference.
“I am very happy with my players. They were very positive in all aspects of the game and they managed to put up a good show. At the very least, we are pleased with that as the technical team.”
Mubiru was also impressed with Kakooza’s performance on the day and advised to stay focused.
“Derrick is improving every single day. His character is positive and he uses his body very well and his touches are improving.
“The goals he scored today are typical of a number 9 goals that ordinary player couldn’t score. you can see he was in the right position at the right time.
“We only have to keep nurturing him and encourage him to stay focused.”
Despite URA FC head coach Sam Ssimbwa saying the holy month of Ramadhan will affect the players, Abdallah Mubiru says his not a man of excuses because he also played during the fasting period.
“I don’t normally look for excuses because I used to play every game during the fasting period.
“This is a spirit and only affects those with weak spirits and those who fasted managed to play 90 minutes for my team.
“We will keep rotating players at certain moments to ensure they are fresh and do not accumulate fatigue.”
Police now have 31 points from 17 games and very much on course to finishing the season in top the four.
Police play away to Busoga United on Saturday, in their next fixture.
