Now, KOBs will have to play each game like a final if they are to win the league for the first time in four seasons.
The sit top of the 10-team log with 24 points, three above Stanbic Bank Pirates while their opponent Jinja Hippos are third with 20. Record winners Heathens are fourth with 19.
“The title is in sight but we are still far away from it,” said Betway KOBs coach Davis Kyewalabye.
“The games are still many, and the teams we are to play are a bit hard, anybody can come up and beat you and being like a knockout, each game is a final, am just praying we don’t get injuries.”
Against Heathens, KOBs conceded their first try if the season thanks to Gerrard Sseaankabo but Karim Arinaitwe crossed the line and a couple of kicks from James Ijongat saw the side finished the game on top.
The Betway sponsored club welcome back Pius Ogena and Adrian Kasito as the duo were part of the Rugby Cranes team at Emirates Invitational Sevens tournament in Dubai.
Hippos on the other hand, have Johnson Biaga back from Norway while Syliver Kenyi and Kelly Akengo also have been given a place in the starting lineup.
Last season, which was ended prematurely due to Covid19, KOBs won 55-12 at Legends and won the reverse fixture 38-03 in Jinja.
