Preview – Express Hoping To Maintain Pace With Leaders
Express FC have no room for error when they host Mbarara City at Wankulukuku on Saturday.
The Red Eagles saw both Vipers SC and URA FC win on Friday to move six points clear at the top of the UPL standings and Wasswa Bbosa’s side are now desperate to keep up with the two sides.
A home tie against Mbarara looks relatively easy on the eye but it is a contest that they will not take lightly.
Off a 0-0 draw at rivals SC Villa earlier in the week, the Red Eagles need to get back to winning ways so as to maintain Hope’s of securing a first league crown since 2012.
Their home form has been good so far this campaign and are yet to lose a contest at Wankulukuku (W5 D3).
The likes of Martin Kizza, Godfrey Lwesibawa, Eric Kambale and Charles Musiige have carried the side on their shoulders and will he the players Express look to once again for much needed inspiration.
For Mbarara, they beat up on both Wakiso Giants and MYDA in their last two games to register back to back victories and put day light between them and the relegation zone.
Despite having a couple of injuries and key absentees, Mbarara will be a tough nut to crack and are expected to give Express issues on Saturday.
This will be the 8th meeting between the two sides since September 2017.
In the past 7 meetings, Express have won three, Mbarara two with the other two all ending in draws.
Last season, either side won their respective away game before drawing 1-1 in their first meeting this campaign.
