Uganda Premier League
Wakiso Giants FC 2-0 Onduparaka FC
Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium
Wakiso Giants FC registered their maiden league home win as they defeated Onduparaka FC 2-0 on Saturday.
Ivan Bogere and Pius Kaggwa scored for Wakiso who were dominant throughout the game.
Bogere opened the scoring on 23 minutes, side footing from close range after he was set up by eventual man of the match, Frank Ssebufu.
The second came just a minute to the hour mark as Ssebufu and Bogere combined before the latter set up Kaggwa to rifle in past a crowd of players in the Onduparaka goal.
The Purple Sharks who were yet to win a game at home this season, created several chances and could have score five or six on the day only poor finishing.
Ssebufu twice saw headed attempts saved by Tony Kyamera, Hassan Ssenyonjo shit wide from just outside the area and Kaggwa could not convert as his weak effort from inside the area was dealt with by Kyamera.
For Onduparaka, they were clearly second best on the afternoon as they barely created chances upfront.
Kabon Living twice went down in the area but his appeals for a penalty were turned down by referee Ali Sabilla.
The pacey forward also had a shot flush across goal late in the game.
The result sees Wakiso Giants move to 19 points from 18 games despite staying in 13th spot while Mbarara are now 10th with 21 points.
In their next games, Wakiso are away to Vipers on Tuesday while Onduparaka hosts MYDA FC.
