Uganda’s representatives Nemostars Volleyball Club have opened their Continental account with a hard fought victory over Tanzania’s Mwanza Transit Camp (MTC) in their opening group C contest.

The Ugandan side won a five-set thriller l 15-25, 22-25, 25-21, 25-11, 11-15 in closely contested duel to get off the mark at the 2021 Men’s Africa Volleyball Club Championship in Tunisia.

The Six-time Ugandan League champions lost the opening set 15-25 to their Tanzanian counterparts but re-grouped and went for a jugular, winning the next three sets.

Coach player George Aporu played a starring role to jolt the side to much needed victory.

In the other group game, Tunisian side Kelibia made easy work of  Ethiopian side Wolaita in straight sets ( 15-25, 9-25 and 15-25).

The biennial tournament that throwed off on Sunday, will end on 27th April.

Making their sixth successive appearance, the Ugandan giants travelled with a squad of 10 players and without Coach Andrew Okapis due to financial constraints.
