Preview – Kasasiro Boys, Jogoos In Battle For 4th
The meeting between KCCA and Villa at Lugogo will see the two sides battle for 4th place.
This is an unusual setting for the two most successful sides in Ugandan football but that is how poor they have been this season and for Villa, the last couple of years.
KCCA, have regularly been contenders for the title but have seen a change of events this campaign which have also resulted into the departure of Mike Mutebi as head coach and replaced with Morley Byekwaso.
For Villa, they have been struggling for a couple of years with their last decent season coming in 2015/2016.
KCCA have been on a poor run of form lately as they have won just one of their past four games (D1 L2).
They come into this one off a 2-0 loss at URA FC earlier in the week and after Friday results, Byekwaso’s side sit 12 points off the pace.
Their are clear indications that they will not be in the title race this campaign but will want to finish as high as possible to build a foundation for next season, probably.
Villa on the other hand heads into the game on a four-match unbeaten run (W3 D1).
The draw during that run, came in their last fixture at home to rivals and title contenders Express FC, a result that must have impressed the Villa faithful.
At the start of the day, Villa sits just a point behind KCCA who are also behind 4th placed Police FC by a single point.
The winner between the two sides moves into 4th spot following the Cops’ loss to Busoga United on Saturday.
This will be the 21 meeting between the two sides since January 2011.
In the previous 20 match-ups, KCCA have won nine, Villa two with the other nine all ending in draws.
Villa have not defeated KCCA in any of their last 10 visits to Lugogo (D4 L6).
The reverse fixture last season ended in a 4-1 victory for KCCA.
However, Villa won the first meeting between the two sides this season 2-1 at Bombo.
