Morley Byekwaso: This Is a Transitional Period For KCCA FC

KCCA FC interim coach Morley Byekwaso says KCCA FC are currently making a transition from the time under Mike Mutebi.

Byekwaso who replaced Mutebi at the club, last month, made those remarks after his side beat SC Villa by 1-0 in a league game played at the Omondi Stadium on Sunday, April 18.

Substitute Charles Lwanga struck in the 75th minute to see that the Byekwaso coached side earned victory at home.

Speaking at a press conference after the game, Byekwaso was quick to thank his boys before admitting that they struggled in the first half.

“First of all I thank God and also thank the boys for the great job they have done. He started.

“We struggled in the first half but not only us, even our opponents (Villa) because of the heat.

“We displayed and tried to put in the intensity but the heat could not allow us to be fast.

“So both teams tried so much in the first half and when the heat went down, that’s when the speed came up.”

Byekwaso has now registered three wins and lost one out of the five games under his stewardship.

Next on KCCA FC’s menu are two tricky away games, one coming at Mbarara City and the other at Onduparaka FC.

On this, Byekwaso says it’s now his time for a transition.

“Look at this transition as Coach Morley’s time, they (fans) should not look at me as a very big coach.

“I have come into someone’s shoes, our former manager who made a lot of things so I need to start my journey very slow.

“There are things I need to introduce but they won’t come early, they need to take a process.”

Lwanga who came off the bench for Samuel Senyonjo struck the all important goal to hand his side Victory and he is the leading top scorer with 9 goals for his side.

Against Nyamityobora in the Uganda Cup, it was the same player (Lwanga) whose strike handed the Kasasiro Boys victory in the second leg, to see them progress last 16.

On Lwanga’s form, Byekwaso had this to say;

“We have always seen him doing a lot of things when he comes in.

“When we read our opponents that they were a bit slow and tired we had to introduce him to bring his pace into our game and he has been doing that so well.

“He is coming up and he has come up well but we are planning to use him in the future, and I think he will start in Mbarara City game.”

Victory against SC Villa sees KCCA FC move to the fourth place with 33 points from 18 games played.
