Preview – Express Seek To Bounce Back To Winning Ways
Express have seen their chase for a first league title since 2012 lose steam in the last two games.
The Red Eagles have collected just two out of a possible six points and currently sit five (points) adrift of joint leaders Vipers SC and URA FC.
After a 0-0 draw at SC Villa, Wasswa Bbosa’s side were held 1-1 by ten-man Mbarara City last weekend, a game that highlighted their offensive issues lately.
Ever since George Ssenkaba got injured, the Red Eagles have struggled for goals, scoring just six goals in seven games and managing more then one goal on one occasion.
The quadruple of Martin Kizza, Godfrey Lwesibawa, Charles Musiige and Eric Kambale need to start putting away the chances they create or else Express risks falling further away from the title race.
For Bright Stars, they are currently on a good run after winning all their last three games.
They have also been scoring goals of late, netting nine in their last three games including in a 3-0 win at MYDA last time out.
That brilliant form has seen them surge up the standings into 8th with 26 points.
With their ability to score goals, the Stars will definitely ask questions of an Express side that has been struggling of late.
This will be the 17th meeting between the two sides since November 2013.
In the past 16 meetings, Express has won five, Bright Stars three with the other eight all ending in draws.
Express have not lost away to Bright Stars in their past two match-ups, both ending in 1-1 draws.
The Red Eagles won 2-1 at Wankulukuku in the two sides’ first meeting this season.
