FUFA Technical Centre Njeru
Kawempe Muslim returned to winning ways as they beat debutants Tooro Queens 2-0 in the ongoing FUFA Women Super League at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.
Allen Nassazi and second half substitute Sharon Nadunga scored once each to ensure that Kawempe won the contest having lost to Uganda Martyrs in their second game.
Nassazi gave Kawempe the lead inside 18 minutes after she capitalized on a mistake by Tooro Queen’s goalkeeper Gloria Namukula.
Kawempe had a chance to double their lead 10 minutes later through a penalty after Margret Kunihira was fouled in the forbidden area. From the resultant kick, Kunihira missed with her effort going just wide.
With ten minutes left on the clock, Tooro Queens’ Resty Kobusobozi became the first player to be sent off this season after she was shown a second yellow card on the day.
In stoppage time, substitute Nadunga sealed it for Kawempe with their second on the day heading home off a well crafted corner from Kunihira.
Victory sees Kawempe go top of Group 1 with six points, level with Uganda Martyrs who lost to Kampala queens 1-0 in the other group 1 game on Wednesday.
After a rest day on Thursday, Kawempe will return to action on Friday 23rd April against Makerere University in their last game while Tooro Queens will face Kampala Queens the same day.
