Uganda Premier League
Mbarara City FC 0-0 KCCA FC
KCCA FC were held to a goalless draw away to Mbarara City FC on Wednesday.
The Kasasiros who were coming off a victory at home to SC Villa could not get the job done and will feel satisfied at the point earned after Mbarara looked the more likely to win the contest.
The Ankole Lions were rampant especially in the first half as they created one chance after the other but it could just not be for them.
The returning Hillary Mukundane headed wide from a corner with KCCA custodian Charles Lukwago caught in no-man’s-land, Henry Kitegenyi poked Innocent Wafula’s low cross wide while Solomon Okwalinga’s goal bound effort was charged down by Peter Magambo.
After a poor first half, KCCA looked to have upped their game in the first half but them too could not find a break through.
After Hassan Jurua had blazed over form inside the area, Charles Lwanga forced a decent low save from Martin Elungat.
Late in the game, Sadat Anaku found himself one on one with Elungat but his lobed effort flew over.
Mbarara, like in the first half, created the better chances in the second too but Kitegenyi saw a fierce drive pushed away for a corner by Lukwago, Pistus Barenga saw a header cleared off the line by Herbert Achai and substitute Bashir Mutanda shot wide after he was set up by the lively Jude Ssemugabi.
In the end, both sides had to settle for a point and KCCA’s winless run at Kakyeka continues.
The result sees KCCA climb back into 4th position, level on points with Police FC (34) but with a superior goal difference.
For Mbarara, they stay in 11th with 22 points from 19 games.
In their next fixtures, Mbarara City are at home to SC Villa on Saturday while KCCA travel away to Onduparaka FC the following day.
