Calvary Overcomes Paidha In The West Nile Derby

FUFA Big League
Cavalry FC 2-1 Paidha Black Angels

Goals from Julius Malingumu and Andama Junior (penalty) gave Cavalry FC the bragging rights against Paidha in the Westnile derby at the Ababet Greenlight Stadium. Choka Julius scored for the visitors from the spot.

Calvary launched an attack in the 7th minutes but Andima Abdulrahman effort was blocked by defender Mwaka Steven.

The visitors progressed well in the final third, in the opening 20 minutes, but couldn’t beat the resilient and organised Calvary defence.

The derby hit up with both teams showing their best in the middle of the park, pushing for the opener.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 30th minutes as Malingumu gave the hosts the lead with an easy finish after a defensive mistake by Omara Walter.

Eight minutes after going behind, Midfielder Oyirwoth Desmond had a clear opportunity to equalise for the visitors but missed a one-on-one with the Goalkeeper Angufindru Norman.

Malingumu goal was the strike that separated both sides in the first half.

Calvary enjoyed possession in the opening minutes of the second half.

In the 70th minutes, Paidha Black Angels levelled through Choka from the spot.

However, Andama restored Cavalry’s lead from a penalty kick in the 83rd minutes.

Cavalry move into 3rd in the Elgon group with 10 points in 6 matches while Paidha sit in the bottom of the group with just a 1 point.
