*Lady Doves 5-0 Isra Soccer Academy
*She Corporates Vs Olila High, 12pm
Striker Fazila Ikwaput scored for fun as Lady Doves proved too good for Isra Soccer Academy in the first group B game of the FUFA Women Super League in Njeru.
Ikwaput scored four goals, and would have scored more on the day, as she proved handful to beat Isra defence with pace, quality and experience.
She doubled the lead in the 35th minute after Lydia Nyandera had put the side in front in the 22nd minute and later got her brace just four minutes from restart.
She ran free from Isra defence and caught the goalkeeper poorly positioned on her line only to score in a seemingly unguarded net for her hat-trick.
Her fourth on the day, fifth for Lady Doves, saw her outpace defender Nalwange from the right flank before slotting under an on-rushing keeper.
“I feel nice, this is what am supposed to do,” a pleased Ikwaput told Journalist Joel Muyita after the game. “My target is taking this team to the final and I want to score at least nine goals in this tournament.”
The former Gokulam Kerala (India) and Kazygurt (Kazakhstan) striker is the 2017 FUFA Women footballer of the year.
Earlier in the game, she missed two chances going free on goal including one that hit the post while the other rattled into the side net.
Isra, who will be every team’s favourite to play in the five-team group B, looked naive and rarely threatened on goal.
The 5-0 victory is a big statement win that headlines Lady Doves lofty ambitions this year – They face Olila on Tuesday before UCU Lady Cardinals ans She Corporates the following days.
