Preview – Red Eagles Out For Maiden Home Victory Against Caterpillars

Express FC will be hoping to register their first-ever home win against Onduparaka FC on Wednesday.

The Red Eagles have struggled against the Caterpillars at Wankulukuku and are yet to register a victory off them ever since the Arua based side was promoted to the top tier in 2016.

When they meet again on match-day 21, the game will be extra important for Wasswa Bbosa’s side as they hope to stay in the title race.

Coming off arguably their biggest win all season as they beat defending champions Vipers SC 1-0 at Kitende, Express can not afford to lose any points especially after leaders URA FC beat Mbarara City FC 2-0 on Tuesday to move further up-top.

Before a kick of the ball, Express sit seven points off the pace and Bbosa is confident they can cut that deficit back to three with a rare victory against the Caterpillars.

“We have been basically correcting past mistakes from our 1-0 away win over Vipers SC. Said Bbosa ahead of the game.

“We know Onduparaka has managed to pick points against us in the past and we respect them but we have prepared well i would say.

“The Boys have been working on finishing and i am hopeful we shall come out on top.”

Express are the only side yet to lose a game at home this season, winning five and drawing the other four of their nine games so far.

Coming off a 1-1 draw against Mbarara City in their last home game, Express will not be taking anything for granted against Onduparaka.

The Caterpillars have been struggling in the last few games, winning just one of their last seven games.

They are also currently on a four-game losing streak including a 1-0 home loss against KCCA FC this past Sunday.

Joseph Mutyaba’s side are steadily sliding down the table and currently sit in 11th on 24 points, just five away from the relegation zone.

They know they must start winning games so as to put reasonable distance between them and the dog-fight.

However, it will not be any easy coming up against an Express side that has their sights set on the big prize at the end of the campaign.

Match Stats

This will be the 10th meeting between the two sides since September 2016.

In the first nine meetings, Onduparaka have won four times, Express once with the other four all ending in draws.

Express have lost all of their past three home games against Onduparaka, conceding a total of six goals whilst scoring just one.

This fixture produced two away victories last season with Onduparaka beat Express 2-0 at Wankulukuku.

The first meeting between the two this campaign ended in a 1-1 draw with Express ending the game a man less after captain Enock Walusimbi was sent off.
