We Didn’t Care About Conceding Against UCU – Lady Doves Assistant Coach Rajab Buyinza

Lady Doves FC assistant coach Rajab Buyinza has come out to suggest that his side did not care whether they conceded as long as they got the job done.

He made the comments following their come-back victory over UCU Lady Cardinals in the FUFA Women Super League on Wednesday.

Despite trailing to Hassifah Nassuna’s strike, Fazila Ikwaputa scored twice to ensure Lady Doves walk away with a 2-1 victory, their second of the campaign.

Speaking to the media, Buyiza thanked God for the victory before adding that his side’s aim was three points and they never cared about conceding.

“We want to thank God for giving us our second win of the season because it wasn’t ours but God made it possible. Buyinza said.

“God planned that we should win, so we thank him for the victory.”

“When we sat down with the players after yesterday’s draw with Olila (High School), we prepared and had a plan for today’s game and everyone set their own targets.

“Determination, motivation and morale amongst the players was high because they never wanted to drop further points. We went into the game and never cared whether we conceded or not as long as we won.

“Our players working together as a team and following the instructions that we gave them handed us the victory.”

Lady Doves now have seven points from three games and sit top of Group 2.

Also speaking after the game, UCU’s assistant coach Simon Asiimwe said that his side lost because of mistakes they could have avoided.

“It was a bad day in office. We took the lead but as the game went on, we made mistakes that we could have avoided. Asiimwe noted.

“We are going to go back and make sure we improve and try to avoid such mistakes in the next game.

“The communication between the goal keeper and her defenders let down on the first goal.”

UCU lady Cardinals skipper Nassuna was full of confidence despite the defeat, stating that they will bounce back next time.

“Things didn’t go as we expected but we are going back to the drawing board to see that we correct out mistakes so that we perform better in the next 2 games.”

UCU have now collected 3 points in two games and will return to action on Tuesday against Isra Soccer Academy.

For Lady Doves, they take on She Corporates on the same day.
