Preview: KCCA FC Target Double Over Bright Stars

KCCA FC will be looking to complete a league double over Bright Stars when the two sides meet at Lugogo in the only StarTimes UPL game on the day.

KCCA FC won the first round tie 2-1, which was their league opener at Kavumba. Debutant Brian Aheebwa and youngster Sam Ssenyonjo scored a goal apiece for KCCA charges while Joseph Akandwanaho halved the deficit to end 2-1 in favour of the 13-time winners.

A lot has changed since then – KCCA FC were then under coach Mike Mutebi while Aheebwa’s goal-well has dried up!

New coach Morley Byekwaso is aware of the task ahead against a team coached by a familiar Baker Mbowa.

“It will be a very tough and hard game, they are solid and compact side, with a good coach who I played with at KCCA. He has been in the game for a good time, was coach of Proline and he knows a lot about KCCA,” Byekwaso said.

“Their recent form has been good, they have given top teams a big run for their money. Our only advantage is that we will be playing at home, and we will do our best.

“We need this game seriously, we have to work extremely hard to win to get those top places on the table.”

Last season, Bright Stars picked a point at Lugogo in a game they thought they could have won – Ronald Ssempala had his header go through a torn net but linesman Hakim Mulindwa signalled for a goal kick.

Team Stats

  • They sit 4th with 37 points having won 11, drawn 4 and lost 5.
