Hassifa Nassuna scored a double and Teddy Najjuma was also on scoresheet as UCU Lady Cardinals squeezed a late victory against Isra Soccer Academy.

The Lady Cardinals, off the back of a 2-1 loss to Lady Doves, managed to bounce back with a 3-0 win on Friday morning in one of the two group B games of the FUFA Women Super League.

Despite the 3-0 scoreline, UCU had to dig deep to pick maximum points after a couple of failed attempts to break a resilient Isra team at FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

They besieged into the opponent’s half in the second stanza and finally were rewarded when Isra defender Flavia Nalwanga’s attempted clearance went in opposite direction before Nassuna raced onto the loose ball to poke home the opener in the 79th minute.

Three minutes later, Najjuma rose highest to power a header into Brenda Kasana’s goal after a well delivered corner from Mercy Nabulobi.

UCU were not done yet as Nassuna got her brace, the third goal for her side. She beat her marker Kuluthum Namutebi with pace before her seemingly weak shot potruded under the goalkeeper and into the net.

The Mukono-based side have collected six points while Isra remain with nothing to their name.
