Uganda To Host 2021 CECAFA U20 Women’s Championship, Nakiwala To Head LOC

The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has confirmed that it will host the CECAFA U20 Women’s championship.

This was confirmed at the latest FUFA Executive Committee Meeting that was held at FUFA House in Mengo.

The Championships will be hosted at FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru with kick-off anticipated for August 22, 2021.

The executive also endorsed that FUFA 3rd Vice president Hon. Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi will be the chairperson of the Local Organising Committee for the Under-age tournament.

Uganda last hosted the tournament in 2019 when Tanzania defeated Kenya in the final.

The CECAFA U20 Women’s Championship

The CECAFA U-20 Championship is a tournament that is organized by the Council of East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA) and includes national under 20 teams from Central and East Africa.

It has been contest since 1971 with 13 editions held to date.

Uganda is the record champions of the competition, winning it four times (1973, 2006, 2010 and in 2020-the last time it was contested.
