Police Storm Uganda Cup Last 8 Despite Loss To Bright Stars

Uganda Cup Round of 16 – Second Leg

Police FC progressed to the Uganda Cup quarter finals despite losing 1-0 away to Bright Stars in the second leg of their tie on Wednesday.

James Angu scored the only goal of the contest, netting in the 79th minute of the contest played at Kavumba Recreation Grounds.

Police who made two changes to the team that started in the first leg, looked the better side in the opening exchanges but could not find a goal to justify their fine display.

Captain Tony Mawejje forced Bright Stars custodian Simon Tamale into a brilliant angled save with just 16 minutes on the clock.

The closest the visitors came to scoring was Duncan Sseninde’s free kick that rattled the up-right.

Despite the loss, the Cops who had triumphed 4-1 in the first leg, on Saturday, progressed 4-2 on aggregate.

This was the third meeting between the two sides this season with either side winning once and drawing the other match.

The two return to league action later this week as they play their 22nd fixtures of the Uganda Premier League season.

In their next fixtures, Bright Stars are away to SC Villa on Saturday while Police travels to Express on the same day.
