Uganda Martyrs Lubaga High School rallied from a goal down as they beat Kawempe Muslim 2-1 to finish third in this year’s FUFA Women Super League.

The two teams faced off for the placemat game after losing their respective semi-final match ups. Uganda Martyrs lost to UCU Lady Cardinals while Kawempe were defeated by Lady Doves.

Second half goals from Shamsa Najjuma and Spencer Nakacwa ensured that Uganda Martyrs earned a hard fought.

Allen Nassazi had earlier, in the first half, scored for Kawempe to hand them the lead.

Earlier in the game, Uganda Martrys had an attempt at goal with Rebecca Nandego’s strike hitting the woodwork before Anita Namata failing to tap-into the net on the rebound.

In the 21st minute, Nassazi opened the scoring for her side off a deflected strike.

At the second half resumption, Uganda Martyrs came back a more composed side as they went in search of the equalizer.

A minute past the hour mark, Najjuma levelled matters for Uganda Martyrs to see them get back into the game.

In the 81st minute, Nakacwa won it for the Lubaga based side to ensure they win the contest.

Victory sees Uganda Martyrs High School finish third in while for Kawempe, they finish fourth.
