Victory Against Vipers Puts Us Back On Track – Byekwaso

KCCA FC interim Coach Morley Byekwaso says a win against Vipers SC puts his side back on track in the Uganda Premier League (UPL).

Byekwaso made those remarks in a press conference on Friday ahead of their home game against the Venoms on Sunday, May 09.

After 21 games, the Kasasiro Boys sit in 4th on the UPL table with 37 points, 13 adrift of leaders URA FC who beat Onduparaka FC 3-1 on Friday.

Speaking on Friday, Byekwaso noted that it will not be an easy game against Vipers but they (KCCA) will do it best to bridge the gap between them and those at the top.

“It’s not going to be an easy game because Vipers needs this game a lot as they are nearing the finish line. Byekwaso said.

“But we are going to do our level best to see that we bridge the gap between us and those at the top which looks big at the moment.”

Following URA’s victory on Friday, Vipers who are second on the log will start the day (Sunday), four points behind the Tax Collectors and desperate to keep up in the title race.

With KCCA looking less likely to challenge for the league and face a Vipers side with their sights set on the prize, Byekwaso says his side must have self belief so as to win the contest and get back onto the right track.

“We must have self belief and self confidence to see that we win this game. Once we win it, we shall be on the right track.

“I do believe what we have to win on Sunday if we want to raise our chances again. We need to win our games and everything will change.”

KCCA come into this game having lost to Bright Stars at home in their last home league game.

However, they took care of Maroons FC 5-0 on aggregate to storm the Uganda Cup quarter finals late last week and early this (week).

Against the Venoms, Byekwaso says a loss will be another big problem added onto their season.

“Once we loose, then we shall have big problems. I think we need that game seriously and once it works out our way, I think we shall have motivated our selves for the two trophies.

“The good thing we are at home, we are going to do our best to see that we win because they also beat us in the first leg at their home.”

This season, the Kasasiro Boys have struggled to live to their best and coping up with the sides at the top, something Byekwaso blames, to a certain extent, to his sides’ lack of squad depth.

“We have been having a problem in squad depth.

“Our top strikers have been down for some spells because of the accumulated fatigue after playing too many games.

“But I think we are going to use our players well because this is what we have and we need to motivate them.”

A loss to Vipers will all but see KCCA go a second straight season with a league title.
