Pilsner UPL Awards: Bright Stars Duo Scoop April Gongs

Bright Stars forward Samuel Ssekamate and Coach Baker Mbowa have won the Uganda Premier League awards for the month of April.

The duo were crowned on Monday morning in an event at Kati Kati and take home Sh1m courtesy of Pilsner Lager.

Ssekamatte beat Police FC striker Ben Ocen for the player of the month after netting six goals from as many games.

He was on the scoresheet twice as Bright Stars defeated Kitara 3-1. He scored one goal each when Bright Stars beat Wakiso Giants 3-2, MYDA 3-0, Express 3-2 and KCCA FC 2-0 respectively.

“This is a big achievement for me, It has been patience and hard work and I want to add more to my tally,” briefly said Ssekamatte.

Mbowa edged Vipers’ tactician Fred Kajoba for the best coach of the month of April.

In the six games they played, the Kavumba-based side won five and drawn the other. They scored an impressive total of 13 goals and conceded just four.

Coach Mbowa was represented by club CEO Mathias Mugwanya who said that he is convinced with the job the team has done in the concluded games so far.
