We Beat KCCA Because Of Determination And Hard Work – Vipers Assistant Coach Kiwanuka

Vipers SC assistant coach Paul Kiwanuka says their victory against KCCA FC came as a result of determination and hard work from the players.

He made those remarks after the Venoms beat KCCA FC 2-1 on Sunday at the Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.

Yunus Sentamu and Milton Kariisa scored for the Venoms, while Denis Iguma netted for the Kasasiro Boys.

Victory saw Vipers move to 49 points and they stay in second place, one point adrift of leaders URA FC.

Speaking after the game, Kiwanuka was quick to admit that his side was determined and worked hard for the victory.

“It was all about determination and hard work to see that we get a win in order to maintain our push for the title.

“I think we played well in accordance to the tension of the game, everything worked out the way we had planned it.”

With eight games to go, Kiwanuka says the battle for the title is still on.

“The battle is still on, we are going to forget about this game and focus on the next match.”

Next on Vipers menu is a home game against leaders URA FC on Wednesday at Kitende in a top of the table clash.

In what might be the title deciding game, Kiwanuka says they need to work harder than they did against KCCA.

“They are ahead of us so we must work harder than we did today against KCCA in order to win and go on top of the table.”

Vipers want to defend the title having won it last year when the league was top after 25 games following the outbreak of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.

A victory against URA will take Vipers to the top of the pile while a loss with dent their hopes of retaining the crown.
