Wakiso Giants held on to take a point off Busoga United as the two sides drew 1-1 at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

Wakiso Giants who had defender Hassan Wasswa sent off for two bookings in the second half, netted through Viane Ssekajugo on 79 minutes to ensure they earned a hard fought draw.

Earlier in the contest, Sharif Kimbowa had put Busoga ahead, feeding off Ivan Wani’s assist from a corner on 15 minutes.

Wakiso were on the back foot for much of the game and they resorted to consistent fouling.

They were made to pay dearly for their actions as Wasswa was sent off after he was shown a second yellow card on 76 minutes.

Against the run of play, Ivan Bogere teed up Ssekajugo to level matter with just 11 minutes on the clock.

Despite late pressure from the host, Wakiso held on to take a point home from a contest that for large spells looked to be headed into another defeat.

The draw sees Busoga United move to 26 points and they stay in 13th on the log, six points above the relegation zone.

For Wakiso, they climb into 9th with 27 points from 23 games.

In their next fixtures, Busoga United are away to MYDA FC while Wakiso Giants host Kitara FC.
