Preview – Onduparaka, SC Villa desperate to return to winning ways in Arua

Onduparaka will be seeking to return to winning ways when they host SC Villa at home in Arua.

This will be the fourth meeting between the two sides this season. They have already met three times, twice in the Uganda Cup and one coming in the league.

The Caterpillars are yet to register any win against the Joggos as they have suffered two losses, one coming in the Cup and the other in the league and then the draw in the cup second leg.

Villa are seeking for a third league double over Onduparaka after doing so in 2017/18 and 2019/20.

Last season, Villa won 3-1 in Arua with Fahad Badiro, Faisal Muwawu and Emmanuel Kalyowa all on target for the Jogoos while Julius Malingumu scored for the Caterpillars.

This season in the league, Villa needed a 93rd minute winner from Nicholas Kabonge to beat Onduparaka in the first round at Bombo Barracks ground.

Having lost their last two League home games against MYDA FC and KCCA FC, the Caterpillars will be hoping to register their first win against Villa as well as returning to winning ways.

With 8 games left and knowing that they are just four points above the relegation zone, Onduparaka need to start winning games so as to avoid being dragged into the relegation dog-fight.

On the other hand, Villa also seek to end their winless run with victory in Arua.

They have not registered any win in their last five league games – drawn three and lost two.

However, the Joogos head to Arua with some positives, having beaten the Caterpillars by 1-0 when they met in the first leg of the Uganda Cup in the same city and venue.

As they seek to end the winless streak, the Edward Kaziba coached side will all go all out in search for victory.
