Betway Power’s poor start escalated after falling to UPDF Tomahawks in the ongoing National Basketball League.

The five-time champions lost 70-82 on Saturday afternoon at KIU Court in Kansanga.

This is their fifth straight loss from as many games, making their worst ever start in top flight.

This piles more pressure on coach Arnold Lando Mchuda as reports in corridor of imminent sacking continue to spread.

Coming into the game, they had lost four against KIU Titans, Ndejje Angels, JKL Angels and City Oilers.

They had a slow start when they went behind 26-15 in the first quarter. They mounted a comeback and cut the lead to just a point at halftime but UPDF pegged them back before winning a 12-point game.

Moses Muhumuza and Wilberforce Pirwoth proved handful for Power as the Tomahawks duo scored 19 points each while Bernard Okumu contributed 12 points.

Amisi Saidi Danny, formerly at Warriors, had 16 points Nasser Guddi Kikiri managed 15 and Robert Tasiri’s 13 was not enough to rescue Power.

Elvis Ssentongo shot an awful 1 of 10 from the field while reliable shooting guard Stephen Wundi had two points from eight minutes on court.

Next for Betway Power is a test against Nam Blazers on May 23, a team where former players like Paul Odong joined.
