Women Elite League: Bunyaruguru Beat Kataka She in Group B Opener

Group B – Match Day 1

Saturday, May 15
*Kataka She FC 0-1 Bunyaruguru Girls FC
*Rines SS WFC vs Town View SS WFC – 12PM

Bunyaruguru got off the mark in the opening Group B tie of the ongoing Women Elite League thanks to a slender win over Kataka She FC.

The Rubirizi District based club won 1-0 thanks to a beauty from Adrine Musimenta.

Musimenta, on loan from Women Super League champions Lady Doves FC, struck from the freekick in the 68th minute.

Kataka, who were forced into an early substitution when Esther Adokole paved way for Janat Nabuduwa, could have scored first but Esther Namataka skewed wide a glorious opportunity in the 26th minute.

Bunyaruguru will seal a place in the knockout with a game to spare if they beat Rines on Sunday while Kataka have to avoid an early exit when they face Town View in Sunday’s last game.

Group A saw the top two sides Dynamic SS and King of Kings qualify to the Quarterfinals.

Just like the concluded Women Super League, this year’s Women Elite League is played at FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru under strict Covid19 protocols.
