Taddeo, Simba Have All Work To Do After Heavy Defeat At Kaizer Chiefs

Quarterfinals First Leg
*MC Alger 1-1 Wydad
*Kaizer Chiefs 4-0 Simba
*CR Belouizdad 2-0 ES Tunis
*Al Ahly 2-0 Mamelodi Sundowns

Taddeo Lwanga and his side Simba SC are on the brink of a CAF Champions League exit after falling 4-0 at Kaizer Chiefs in the first leg of the Quarterfinals.

Uganda’s Taddeo played 90 minutes, commanding the midfield with Jonas Mkude, but the Amakhosi proved handful at FNB stadium in Joburg.

Samir Nurkovic scored a goal in either half, while Leonardo Castro and Mulomowandau Mathoho bagged one each to seal a deserved lead.

Mathoho went in first with a header from close range and the side doubled the lead with another header, this time Nurkovic, off Reeve Frosler cross to take a 2-0 lead at the break.

Nurkovic smashed in the third with a beautiful volley after Hussein Mohamed had headed poorly in the 57th minute.

Castro headed home the fourth to put the icing on the cake in the 63rd minute thanks to a Lebogang Manyama delivery.

All Simba’s attempts to get an away goal were thwarted as the hosts ensured another clean sheet as it has been the case in their previous five home games in this competition this year.

Simba will have to stage a miraculous performance at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in a weeks time to overturn the deficit or else they face another Quarterfinal exit as it was against TP Mazembe in 2018/19 season.
