Express FC head coach Wasswa Bbosa says his team will improve on their scoring in of the remaining six fixtures of the Uganda Premier League.
He made those remarks after his side scrapped past UPDF FC 1-0 on Saturday.
On-form striker Erick Kambala scored the only goal of the day from the spot after Goefrey Lwesibawa was fouled in the area.
The win ensured that the Red Eagles stayed 3rd moving to 52 points, two below leaders URA and one behind defending champions Vipers who are second.
Speaking after the final whistle, Bbosa admitted that it was not an easy game but they took all three points in the end.
“We managed to win the game against UPDF 1-0 and that is the important thing.” Bbosa said.
“For me who has been here before, I know the history of UPDF here at Wankulukuku and they always cause Express issues and on some occasions, walk away with the points.”
Despite the victory which maintains the push for a first league since 2012, concerns have been raised about the Red Eagles limited scoring.
Express have scored 36 goals and Bbosa says they will work on trying to score more goals.
“Today we managed to win the game and we think we shall make sure that we improve on scoring to make sure that we get more goals.”
Also speaking on Saturday, Express captain Enock Walusimbi admitted it was a tough game but they played as a team.
“We have managed to win this game which was tough. Walusimbi noted.
“We played as a team, we fought so that we can get all the 3 points.
“Our next focus is on away game at Busoga. We have to win our games and we don’t care what other teams have done. What is important for the team is winning our games.”
“It’s the mentality of the players, the players have the mentality of winning only, that’s what helped us win this game”.
Express who have won all their last five matches will travel away to Busoga United FC on Tuesday in their next fixture.
