Magandazi Was Eligible To Face Vipers – UPL

The Uganda Premier League has dismissed Vipers SC petition regarding Mbarara City FC midfielder Ibrahim Magandazi.

The Venoms had petitioned the Secretariat claiming that Magandazi was ineligible to feature in their 3-2 loss to the Ankole Lions on May 18, at Kitende due to accumulation of three yellow cards.

However, the Secretariat has dismissed the claims confirming that the said player had two yellow cards going into the contest.

“The Secretariat received your petition dated 19th/05/2021 alleging that Mbarara City FC fielded an ineligible player in the match Vipers SC Vs Mbarara City FC (SUPL M#195) played on Tuesday 18th May 2021 at St. Mary’s Stadium-Kitende. Read part of the reply by UPL signed by UPL CEO Bernard Bainamane.

“As per the UPL records, player Ibrahim Magandazi, was eligible to play the said fixture.”

The UPL confirmed that Magandazi was booked In matches against UPDF FC, Vipers and KCCA FC before sitting out the one against SC Villa.

He then got booked again against Bright Stars and Onduparaka FC thus had two yellow cards heading into the game at Kitende and was eligible to face the Venoms.

This means Vipers will stay 3rd on the log with 53 points, one behind second-placed URA FC and two adrift of leaders Express FC, with five games to play.

Vipers face Bright Stars away from home, next, on Friday in their match-day 25 fixture.
