Paidha Brought Down To Earth By Mbale Heroes

Big League
Thursday 20th May
Mbale Heroes 1-0 Paidha Black Angels
Mbale Municipal Stadium

Substitute Brian Olega’s strike in the 65th minute gave Mbale Heroes a hard fought victory over Paidha Black Angels in the FUFA Big League on Thursday.

The visitors started brightly, getting a free-kick at the edge of the box, in the very first minute of the contest but Victor Kilama put it wide.

As the Blacks were looking for an opener another chance went begging after Kilama nicely threaded pass, into the box, couldn’t be met by Pithua Floribert

Mbale Heroes had a rare sight on goal but Kiberu Faizal attempt went wide.

Goalkeeper Oyirwoth Jonathan made a decent one-handed-save to deny Joel Male.

The first half ended goalless but Paidha was unlucky not to go into the break with the lead as they were clearly the better side.

The hosts came back a more composed side in the second half and started growing into the game.

Substitute Olega gave them the all important lead on 65 minutes, pouncing onto a defensive mix-up.

Goalkeeper Oyirwoth Jonathan made good-reflex save from Ibrahim Kibumba off a strike from outside the box, to keep Paidha at bay.

Despite late consistent pressure by Paidha, Mbale held on to register victory.

Mbale Heroes now leapfrog Calvary to 5th position with 12 points in 9 matches while Paidha stays 8th on 4 points.

What next for both sides
