Amuria Put Eight Past St. Peters To Go Top Of Group C

Amuria High registered a massive victory as they thrashed St.Peters WFC 8-1 to move top of the Women Elite League group C on Friday. .

This was the second game played on Friday after Ajax Queens took care of Vision WFC 1-0 earlier in the morning.

Against a St. Peter’s side that conceded five in their opening game, Amuria were always favourites to take care of business.

Grace Nassango scored a hat trick on the day, skipper Emmanuela Akoel grabbed a brace while Rehemah Akurut, Polline Anyakun and Rukia Aringo scored once, each.

Dollica Aceng scored the only goal for St. Peter’s as they suffered another defeat and bowed out of the competition.

Skipper Akoel opened the scoring on the day, calmly slotting into the back of the net on 15 minutes.

However, against the run of play, Aceng levelled matters St. Peters moments later.

At the stroke of half time, Akurut scored to see Amuria regain their lead.

Ten minutes into the second half, Nasongo stretched the lead for Amuria to 3-1.

Three minutes later, Anyakun scored made it 4-1 before Nasongo struck the fifth on 74 minutes.

Akoel completed her brace moments later to make it six and Amuria were not done yet as Nassongo and Aringo added two more goals to complete the thumping.

With two consecutive victories, Amuria are now top of group C with 6 points after two games played.

Saturday is a rest day and Amuria will return to action on Sunday against Vision WFC, in a game from which they need just a point to finish as table leaders while St.Peters will face Ajax Queens on the same day.
