Bobosi Scores Spectacular As Vipers Hold On At Bright Stars

*Express 4-0 Kitara
*MYDA 1-2 Wakiso Giants
*Bright Stars 0-1 Vipers

Bobosi Byaruganga scored the only goal that handed Vipers a hard fought win against Bright Stars at Kavumba.

Bobosi’s right-footed long range drive dipped over goalkeeper Simon Tamale at the stroke of halftime.

Yunus Ssentamu fluffed from the spot kick after Vipers were handed a contentious penalty earlier.

The Venoms, off the back of a 3-2 loss to Mbarara City, endured second half fluff of attacks but held on to return to winning ways.

Dangerman Samuel Kayongo Ssekamatte saw his powerful free-kick kept out by Bashir Ssekagya while Halid Lwaliwa headed Joseph Janjali free-kick off the line.

Lwaliwa also made a timely tackle to make an important block after Akandanwaho had robbed Siraje Ssentamu.

Vipers defender Paul Willa will feel lucky to have finished the game after the right back survived a second booking with an ugly tackle on Akandanwaho towards the hour-mark.

The Venoms move second to 56 points, two above second placed URA who have a game in hand.

The loss snaps Bright Stars 10-game unbeaten run as Baker Mbowa’s side remain on 41 points.

Unconvicing Venoms Scrape Through

The second half collapse against Mbarara City FC at Kitende slimmed Vipers title chances.

And they yet again looked poor in the second half after a first half they would have won by a better margin.

Despite welcoming back a couple of players – Bobosi, Watambala, Halid Lwaliwa, Livingston Mulondo and Dissan Galiwango – the Venoms failed to exert command at a water-logged Kavumba.

The two strikers Caesar Manzoki and Yunus Ssentamu were pocketed throughout, partly due their teammates failure to create chances for them mainly Ibrahim Orit who looked off colour.

Manzoki had a good chance but headed an inch wide while Ssentamu’s penalty kissed the frame when Kayondo was brought down just outside the box.

Willa had a free-kick wide while Watambala forced Tamale into a reflex save.

It was not a pleasing performance for Vipers but the result surely relieves pressure off underfire Fred Kajoba going into last four crucial games.

Bright Stars Poor Run Against Vipers Continues

Bright Stars search for a first win against Vipers continues for another season.

They have lost eight and drawn seven from 15 meetings with the Venoms.

This was their best chance given a good run of form they had staged in recent memory – 10 games unbeaten, a run that included wins off Express and KCCA.

They had a promising start and caused all sorts of problems – Methodius Jjungu denied from a tight angle as they came closest.

But after the opening 15 minutes, Vipers grew into the game and took command. The hosts came back a better side in the second stanza in a game Vipers fans were denied entry at Kavumba.

Ssekamatte, the club’s leading scorer with 12 goals, almost scored from a freekick but Ssekagya was outstanding in goal.

Bright Stars earlier lost Jjungu and Derrick Ngoobi to injuries. Substitute Ibrahim Kasinde went free on goal but fired just wide of Ssekagyas goal.

This is surely Bright Stars best season since joining top flight as their dream of a 50-point mark remains within reach.
