Ajax Queens registered their first victory at this year’s FUFA Women Elite League after edging Vision WFC by 1-0.
Coming off a 3-2 loss in their opening game against Amuria High School, Ajax Queens needed maximum points to retain hopes of qualification to the knock out stage.
They did what exactly was expected of them as they edged group C favourites Vision by a single goal.
Margaret Nalubega struck the all important goal of the game in the 8th minute.
The forward capitalized on poor defending by Vision and her effort deflected off defender Recho Aciro to beat Irene Alumu in goal who could only help it on it’s to the back of the net
Despite scoring five in their opening game, Vision could not find any even after creating several chances in the second half
The Kitgum based side were also reduced to ten players six minutes to time when midfielder Sharon Akullo was sent off for a second bookable offence.
Victory sees Ajax Queens move to three points for the campaign.
For Vision WFC, they suffer their first loss having won their first opening thrashing St. Peters WFC by 5-0 and they now also stay on three points.
To seal their qualification, Ajax Queens will need to win their last game when they face St. Peters WFC on Sunday while Vision WFC will play Amuria High School.
