Wakiso Giants Beat MYDA To Climb Into 7th

Wakiso Giants FC came from a goal down to all but relegation MYDA from the Uganda Premier League on Friday.

First half goals from Viane Ssekajugo and Kipson Ahuhaire cancelled out Eric Mutebi’s opening strike at the King George IV Memorial Stadium in Tororo.

Mutebi shot from outside the box to hand the hosts a surprise lead.

The visitors levelled eight minutes later through Ssekajugo with a thunderous strike from just inside the area.

Nine minutes to the break, Atuheire who was coming back from injury struck for the visitors to ensure they headed into the break with a one-goal lead.

Despite desperate attacking from the hosts in the second half, the Purple Sharks held on to register their 8th victory of the campaign.

Three points elevate Wakiso to 7th on the log with 36 points.

For MYDA, they stay in 15th with 14 points, 12 away from safety with just four games to play.

MYDA will be relegated if Busoga United avoids defeat away to KCCA FC on Sunday.

In their next fixtures, MYDA will host BUL FC at the King George memorial stadium on 15th June while Wakiso Giants will welcome Express FC to the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium 5 days later.
