Its end of the road for former Uganda Cranes skipper Denis Onyango and his side Mamelodi Sundowns in the ongoing CAF Champions League.

The Brazillians were knocked out of the African elite club competetion after a 1-1 draw with Al Ahly at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Sundowns had dug themselves a big pit when they lost 2-0 in Cairo, and the 2016 winners are eliminated after losing the tie 3-1 on aggregate.

The Visitors went in first when Yasser Ibrahim got on target in the tenth minute thanks to a header from a corner kick.

Mosa Lebusa brought the game level at the half-hour mark but Sundowns failed to build on the momentum thereafter.

Al Ahly, who won the title 1982,  1987, 2001,  2005,  2006,  2008, 2012, 2013 and 2020, are looking for a record extending 10th African crown.
