SHE Maroons WFC earned a perfect start to this year’s FUFA Women Elite League after they thrashed Echoes WFC in their first game of Group D on Tuesday at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.
This was the second game of the day after Wakiso Hills and Lango Queens played out a goalless draw earlier
Sharp striker Millicent Namwembe scored a hat-trick on the day, Kautharah Naluyima with a brace while Winnie Kemigisha scored the other goal.
Shilla Amadit scored the only goal for the Soroti based side on a day they would like to forget as soon as possible.
Namwembe opened the scoring inside 10 minutes to give the Prison Warders the lead before Naluyima doubled the lead three minutes later.
Amadit later pulled one back for Echoes WFC but her goal turned to be a consolation.
Moments later , Namwembe ,who was brilliant on the day stretched the lead for her side, her second on the day to ensure a 3-1 lead before half time.
She later completed her hattrick a minute after the restart of the second half.
Four became five on 55 minutes with substitute Naluyima grabbing her second on the day before Kamigisha put the icing on the cake in the with 13 minutes to play.
Victory sees She Maroons go top of group D with three points after one game played.
For Echoes WFC, they suffer the first loss in their opening game of the group.
Next up for SHE Maroons will be a clash against Wakiso Hills on Wednesday while Echoes WFC will take on Lango Queens the same day.
