Wednesday, May 26th

Echos WFC needed a late equaliser to draw 1-1 against Lango Queens on Wednesday in the Women Elite league at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

Coming off a 6-1 loss against She Maroons in their opening game, Echos looked a better side and maintained their knock-out-hopes with a spirited draw.

Martha Ajoro was the hero of the day as she struck in the 86th minutes to see her side avoid a second successive defeat.

Joan Adong had earlier put Lango Queens into the lead on 43 minutes.

In the opening exchanges, both sides created a handful of chances and it was Adong’s strike as the game approached the break that proved the difference at halftime.

In the second half, Echos some how held on and waited to pounce as the game neared its end.

With four minutes left on the clock, Ajoro who had come on in place of Rachael Abiyo, in the second half, levelled matters to see her side walk away with a point.

Lango Queens now move to two points after two games while Echos have one out of a possible six.

Thursday is a rest day and both teams return to action on Friday in their last group games with Lango Queens up against She Maroons while Echos face Wakiso Hills WFC.
