Being summoned to the national team for the very first time is a great milestone for any player like is the case for Express FC’s Captain Enock Walusumbi.
Walusimbi, together with two of his Express FC teammates Eric Kambale and Murushid Jjuko were called up to the national team the cranes, ahead of the friendly against South Africa.
The former Bright Stars defender has captained the Red Eagles who are currently leading the UPL with 58 points with just four games left.
Express are also at the Quarter Finals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
Surely, with his great performance at the club this season, the National team call up looked inevitable.
Speaking to the club’s media on Thursday, Walusimbi was quick to admit that his dream had come true.
“Like any other player, it’s a dream come true to be summoned for the national team,” he stated. “For me this means I have to double my efforts and become a regular and I believe I will.
He believes they will put up a good performance together with his colleagues from the same team.
“As for my teammates (Juuko and Kambale), I believe they have the same goal and hopefully we put up a good performance against South Africa.”
Walusimbi’s leadership has been built all the way as he was still playing at the Masaza tournament, featuring for Bulemeezi, before later joining Bright Stars in the top flight.
With his defensive attributes, leadership abilities, without a doubt he is one for the Future for Uganda National team.
He has been used at right back and central defence interchangeably.
The Cranes are expected to report to the camp on Friday with interim coach Abdullah Mubiru in charge of the team.
