Police FC came from a goal down to take a 3-1 first-leg advantage over Wakiso Giants in the quarter final of the Uganda Cup.

Wakiso Giants took the lead inside five minutes, in freak fashion after Ruben Kimera headed past his own goalkeeper following a cross by George Kaddu.

The visitors responded immediately as Derrick Kakooza squeezed an effort past Samson Kirya off a Yusuf Ssozi low cross.

The Cops turned the game on its head just past the half way mark of the opening period as Ssozi pounced onto a through ball, rounded Kirya before walking the ball into an empty net.

The third goal came on 65 minutes through first-half substitute Ben Ocen who collected from Fahad Kizito and slotted under the on-rushing Kirya.

Wakiso will not take the defeat well as they created several chances to ensure they either pick a point or lose by just a single margin.

Vianne Ssekajugo found himself one-on-one with Police custodian Tom Ikara but shot straight at him.

Tom Masiko twice shot from distance but on both occasions narrowly missed the target.

Just like their past meeting in the league, the game was fiercely contested and more of the same will be expected when the two meet again, in the second leg, next week at Lugogo.
