FUFA Women Elite League – Quarter Finals
Kings of Kings 0-2 Bunyaruguru Girls FC
FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru
Saturday, May 29
It is now confirmed that Bunyaruguru Girls will take part in the FUFA Women Elite League semi finals.
This was after their 2-0 victory over Kings of Kings in the first semi final played on Saturday, May 29.
Sharp striker Norah Alupo’s brace on the day ensured that the Rubirizi based side came out victors in what was dubbed the Western derby.
Within the opening minutes, Bunyaruguru Girls looked the better side on day, asking more questions to Kings of Kings defence, and it wasn’t a surprise they scored before the end of half time.
In the 39th minute, with the continued pressure onto them, Kings of Kings were reduced to ten players after Florence Kaheru was sent off for a foul on Halima Katushabe just outside the area.
From the resultant free kick, Alupo’s strike went straight into the back of the net, to put her side in the lead at half time.
Playing a woman less, Kings of Kings had a lot of work to do against a Bunyaruguru Girls side for the remainder of the game.
Despite having a good start at the second start of the second half, the Fort portal based side could not level matters past an organised Bunyaruguru Girl’s side.
Three minutes past the hour mark, Alupo who had been a threat to Kings of Kings defence all day, doubled her side’s lead with her second on the day.
Alupo’s two goals take her tally to four for the competition, making her one of the three top scorers.
Victory sees Bunyaruguru become the first team to Storm the semi Finals of this year’s FUFA Women Elite League.
In the semi Finals, Bunyaruguru Girls will take on the winner between Rines WFC and Dynamic SS who play later in the day on Saturday.
At the end of the season, the top three teams from the Elite league will qualify to the FUFA Women Super League.
