Foreign-based stars – winger Lumala Abdul, Emmanuel Okwi and Mustafa Kizza – have joined Uganda Cranes team that is preparing to face South Africa in an international friendly on June 10.
The trio were part of the team that trained on Wednesday morning as Cranes preps entered day three at Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.
Local based players Steven Mukwala (URA), Murushid Juuko (Express), Tom Ikara (Police) and Yusuf Ssozi (Police) also joined the team.
Lumala looked in fine conditions after he missed the Uganda Cranes last AFCON qualifier in Malawi due to injury despite starting the penultimate game against Burkina Faso.
The electric winger who was operated in Belgium last year in June, has struggled to get game time since with his Egyptian club Pyramids.
Okwi has been a mainstay in the National Colours but returns with huge responsibility at his shoulders having taken the armband off retired Denis Onyango.
Montreal Impact’s Kizza on the other hand will seek to put his Major League Soccer experience so far as the Cranes start the rebuilding process.
Goalkeeper Isma Watenga and Moses Waiswa are expected to wait for the team in South Africa where they ply their trade at club level.
