Toha, Three Others Off To South Sudan Ahead Of Arab Cup Qualifier

Vipers SC defender Rashid Toha is expected to depart for South Sudan on Wednesday ahead of the upcoming Arab Cup Qualifiers.

South Sudan is slated to take on Jordan in Qatar in their Arab Cup qualification game on June 21.

Toha who has been struggling with fitness issues of late is expected to depart along with three other Uganda Premier League players.

The others include Busoga United’s Ivan Wani, Mbarara City striker Makweth Wol and Gibson Adinho of Onduparaka FC.

Vipers’ right-back Joseph Dhata will leave later this week as he is set to feature for his club side away to SC Villa in the Uganda Cup quarter final second leg in Bombo on Wednesday.

The South Sudanese national team will be in Juba for a two-week training camp before setting off for Qatar.

They face Jordan in a winner qualifies for the Arab Cup finals that will be held in Qatar in November.

If they get past the Jordanians, the Bright Star will head straight to Group C at the finals alongside Morocco, Saudi Arabia and the winner between Comoros and Palestine.

South Sudan will not be part of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers after losing 2-1 on aggregate to Equatorial Guinea in the first round of qualifying.

Currently, they are ranked 169th in the world. Their first ever international match was a 2-2 at home to Uganda in July 2012.
